donkeysdiass

A site for and about the Democratic Party and it's politics (in the spirit of DKos-- I'm an unapolegetic Kossack myself) with the objective of helping to elect as many Democrats as possible in both this year and '08. For and about includes history and how we got here so we can figure out the road map out. And that covers a lot of ground. Add your two cent's worth. No refunds.Be advised this is very much a pro Wes Clark site.

More On Standing Up

Good article here on how to stand up to the GOP
and their bloviating agents of suppression. It's a

very complex approach ---er, I lied, it's not. It's actually fun and easy. And very, very effective. Here's how it works...and I have written on this before, including the post below this.... Use their own words against them.... they have no defense against this. It forces them to defend bad ground under difficult circumstance ---- Tactics 101 in any Military College ( Jeb Stuart said " Hit 'em fastest with the mostest" --- and hit where they ain't. Good advice ) . Deny your enemy the choice of his ground and take the battle to his own turf.....

A Democratic Rep Speaks -- the GOP Howls...

Florida Democratic Congressman hit the GOP hard the other day.
And they didn't like it. Grayson used the GNoP's own words against them. The Party of 'Death Panels' and InsuranceCorp(inc)
talking points howled like gored ox, complete with faux indignation
only they could supply.

Congratulations to Rep Grayson. I think
he may well have provided the much
talked about 'trigger' to a public option
by exposing the fallacy that the GOP
has any sort of plan. The next day he didn't duck and showed up on the Situation Room and promptly gored repub TH Alex Castellanos in beautiful
fashion. I don't know which Spine Store
Grayson shops at but he needs to pass it's location on to his fellow Majority Party members. My guess is they have a Congressional discount.

2010 Is Not 1994.....

There has been a lot of nervous talk and too much talking head speculation suggesting that the Democrats could face the sort of mid term upset that Bill Clinton suffered in his first mid terms as President. It is not a good comparison. For many reasons. In '94 the GOP was not coming off of two severe electoral defeats. They had been the Minority Party for a very, very, long time and the Democratic Majority of the time had, shall we say, issues. The Republican voter base consisted of a good deal of college educated voters. That is no longer the case. The GOP could fairly say that they were a National Party. That is no longer the case as they have been forced to retreat to a Bataan Peninsula of Southern White males --- a base that gives them very little to build on in an age of changing demographics --- back then they had the demographic advantage. No longer. The world and country changed. So did the GOP, but not in a manner that could take advantage of the change.

The public face of the GOP is not one that likely to be to their advantage --- coming across as either disgruntled and angry. Or ' batshit crazy', as in the case of some like Michelle Bachman or the Tea Baggers.

2010 is not the GOP's year to win. But it could the Democratic Party's year to lose. if they allow it. Passing Health Care reform ( which is likely ) would help. It costs a family of four about $15,000 a year to purchase insurance of dubious value. The imperfect Bacchus Bill could make that cost about $3,000. Thats a whole lot of disposable income that could be a 'stimulas package' that could bury the GOP in prosperity.
