donkeysdiass

A site for and about the Democratic Party and it's politics (in the spirit of DKos-- I'm an unapolegetic Kossack myself) with the objective of helping to elect as many Democrats as possible in both this year and '08. For and about includes history and how we got here so we can figure out the road map out. And that covers a lot of ground. Add your two cent's worth. No refunds.Be advised this is very much a pro Wes Clark site.

Name:

A whole lotta years in the military (Redleg),with a family background that shows an unhealthy bent for all things political(genetic defect). Wife and self owned by cat.

A Voice Of Labor AndThe New Deal Passes...

Archie Green was an important voice for both labor causes and labor history for many a year. After graduating with a degree in Political Science he opted to join the CCC in the depths of the Depression and the beginnings of the New Deal. Over the years he worked at many a Union job, ending up in the shipyards of San Francisco. During WW2 he served as a SeaBee before returning to the Union movement. Later he returned to the acedemic life and spent the remainder of his days as a passionate advocate of Union history and folklore. his acomplishments were huge, lasting. Right up to the end he was still active, sending letters to Speaker Pelosi full of advice as to what had to be done. As Labor moves to a new future and a new New Deal we can be assured that the link is unbroken due, in no small part to the work of this man who lived large and left us so much. His story is below......follow the link....

On Newt.......Is He Back?

Or did he ever really go away? The NY Times has an extensive look at Newt Gingrich, former auther of the Republican Revolution, former creator of the Contract With America, former House Speaker -- you get the picture -- he has a lot of formers on his resume. Which may well be part of his problem. The article outlines an arguably quite brilliant idea factory with the attention span of, well, a newt. But right now his party is lost in the wilderness, bereft of idea and a shrinking geographic and demographic base. And that may well breath new life into Newts career. But probably not --- there is a reason he flamed out as House Speaker.
