donkeysdiass

A site for and about the Democratic Party and it's politics (in the spirit of DKos-- I'm an unapolegetic Kossack myself) with the objective of helping to elect as many Democrats as possible in both this year and '08. For and about includes history and how we got here so we can figure out the road map out. And that covers a lot of ground. Add your two cent's worth. No refunds.Be advised this is very much a pro Wes Clark site.

John McCain Isn't The Only Former POW

Noticed of late how much the McCain campaign referances his experiances as a POW during the Viet nam War? Kind of hard not to.
And apparently others have too. When every query is answered with " He was a POW! " no matter how unconnected, someone is going to notice. For an interesting viewpoint check the link below.....

Red To Blue -- A Senate Race Round Up

With the Republican Brand in such disfavor this cycle there is no doubt
the Democratic Party will make some signifigant gains this year. Will it be the
magic number sixty? Hard to say. Some previously Red States like Virginia
will change hands. Other's, like Alaska and North Carolina seem in reach.
Sixty may not happen but the redundancy of Joe Lieberman is soon to come.
A summary of the races is below.....

A Closer Look

It has been hard to miss the commercials featuring Oil Guy T. Boone Pickens. From their
tone one can be forgiven for the confusion that ensues from recalling that this is the same Pickens that bankrolled the infamous 'Swift Boat' campaign. Hard to think that a guy with his record could get so Green. Not to worry. Seems there is more to it. Like owning a whole bunch of
windpower rights. And wanting the aid of good 'ole government subsidies to gain a monopoly. Sorry to shatter any illusions of late life altruism. And Skeptical Cat can continue his skepticism.

Does Campaign Dissary Foretell Governing Disarray?

For some time now it has become obvious that the so called ' Straight
Express ' is directed without a semblance of direction. I might be so bold as to suggest the purchase of a GPS but we already know the technological limitations of the presumptive GOP nominee. Seems amongst the problems the campaign has is not being able to agree with
a message, but staying on that message. Meetings are held. Decisions are made and the candidate thereupon goes out and does or says something completly contrary. Or refutes a talking point agreed upon that morning. This lack of discipline does not bode well should McCain succeed in his quest for Executive power. After all, haven't we seen this before? Recently?

Blue Winds Of Change ---II

More on the deep seated problems with the GOP electoral efforts.
It seems GOP voter registration is lagging far behind that of the
Democratic Party. Bad news at a time when the Republicans are defending so many Senate seats. Bad news at a time when it seems they will have even further diminished strength in Congress. Bad news at a time when their 'brand' is so damaged. And quite likely bad news for a party trying to at least retain the White House, a party saddled with a candidate who stands for little more than a continuation of what most call The Worst Administration Ever.

Blue Winds Of Change -- Rising To Gale Force

Interesting post at HuffPo discussing how far the GOP has sunk
under the leadership of the Cheniest Bush faction. A Republican
majority ( even for a while holding ideas of a 'permanent' rule ).
It is apparent that in these turbulant political times the GOP coalition is fragmented and only a mere shadow of itself.

West Point Grad Wes Clark Faces The Draft

The sweepstakes for both 'presumptive nominees' are heating up as we get closer to convention time. While few actually care who John McCains choice will be, given the dismal prospects for the GOP in this election cycle, a fair bit of attention is being given to the Democratic Party's selection. A movement is afoot to draft the obvious best choice for the Blue Team, one Wes Clark. Some said he was completly unsuitable due to the media generated faux outrage over Clarks comment that getting shot down did not, in and of itself, qualify McCain to be President. Those were true words --- as are all of Clarks, a man who has no concept of anything other than telling the truth and standing by his statements. A refreshing trait that the new era that beckons so badly needs. Clark is the choice that fits on so many levels --- the MSM reaction to last months statement proves it. He can rattle their gilded cage. They need that. The Democratic Party needs that. We all need that. I have said it before, and I say it again now. Wes Clark is the best choice for the Democratic Party. The best choice to watch Obama's six. The best choice period. The Great Orange Satan has more below.....
