donkeysdiass

A site for and about the Democratic Party and it's politics (in the spirit of DKos-- I'm an unapolegetic Kossack myself) with the objective of helping to elect as many Democrats as possible in both this year and '08. For and about includes history and how we got here so we can figure out the road map out. And that covers a lot of ground. Add your two cent's worth. No refunds.Be advised this is very much a pro Wes Clark site.

Name:

A whole lotta years in the military (Redleg),with a family background that shows an unhealthy bent for all things political(genetic defect). Wife and self owned by cat.

Very Weak Spin

Douglas Feith, the formerly faceless Rumsfeld minion has recently come forth, doing the PR circuit in an attempt to justify his actions. For those unaware of his past, he was one of Intelligence distorters who twisted facts and ran a disinformation campaign worthy of the Comminterm of Stalins day. His appearance on The Situation Room is notable for driving Cub Blitzer to the point that Wolfie actually started to act like a journalist, trying to force some sort of non-evasive distortion out of him. Personally, if it had been my show I would have had security escort him out of the building for wasting everyone's time.

His latest disinformation screed is here if you care to look. It's value lies mainly in it's revelation's of the shallow thought processes that pass for policy in the Bush Administration.

Feith's appearance on the Situation Room knocked this guy right over.

The Plane Debate---Sour Grapes
Word has it that the recent howl's of indignant rage emenating from the Beltway about Speaker Pelosi's entitlement to a plane for travel to her district has a root cause. The motivation for the said howls are said to be rooted in displeasure over the Democratic Party's push for a five day work week. It appears some Republicans feel so upset at the prospect of earning their paycheck that they have decided to behave like petulant children and have a little pout. Despite even the White House weighing in in favor of Pelosi many Republicans have decided to go public with their disconnect from recent events. Once again they have managed to prove to everyone but themselves andtheir diminishing band of supporters why they lost the elections in November. They might want to work on that before '08. I hope they don't. I could get used to the GOP tubing elections due to their own inability to sense the political ground.

Update On Wes Clark

Those hoping for an announcement that Wes Clark is
getting in the '08 race appear to be close to hearing what they have been waiting for. As usual Gen Clark has been out and about, speaking on behalf of the Democratic Party. At last weeks Dem gabfest he was given a place on the speakers roster, generally reserved for declared candidates. Looks like it's just a matter of a little more time. Probably a good strategy, rather than
being rushed by the stampede run to grasp the Brass Ring we are seeing , populated by for the most part of would be contentenders in their own minds. Most will find that they never had any sort of realistic base or a chance to grow one, and at least one has already soundbidened himself out of the race. Even if he is the last person to realize it.

Many of the candidates will find that when Clark declares their options for a bigger piece of the electoral pie will diminish. None bring to the electoral table what Clark does. Some have some of the same attributes but none bring an across the board clear background of foriegn policy, national security, experience of Washington but no association with beltway politics, merit based accomplishments and a proven willingness and ability to campaign in a way to reach out to the man in the street. Some of the candidates have some or many of those attributes but none have all.
